Welcome to VA3DBJ.ca

Welcome to VA3DBJ.ca.

We are situated in Clarington, within Durham Region.  This site is dedicated to radio communications in the Durham Region, Northumberland, Kawartha Lakes and Peterborough area.

The primary focus will be Amateur Radio, but I do spend a lot of time on other areas with my assortment of Uniden radios and RTL-SDR.  I monitor, not only regular analog communications, but also P25, DMR, Fusion, D-Star and now NexEdge communications.

What started off as SpaceLodge BBS, in 1993, providing email – usergroup – file access for space related information, transformed into ScannerDesk.com, then to VA3DBJ.ca, when I got my amateur radio licence. We had a close relationship with SpaceBase BBS (Hugh S Gregory) and Aus-City BBS (David Cottle, now Aus-City.com), that provided space related information and email access. We continued our relationship with Aus-City and provide links to their established forums.

This site is also 100% SSL secured and should show Secured/Encrypted in all current browsers. All ad’s have been removed and most of the related tracking has been disable.

This is strictly a hobby site and will be worked on as time permits. I did say “hobby”, right? As I didn’t want to re-invent the wheel, additional information provided here, are from authoritative sources, such as Wikipedia and Radio Reference.

Canadian amateur radio operator since 2007. Operating on the VHF/UHF bands and local repeaters in the Durham Region area. Husband and the father of four.
